Terms and Conditions of Online Hygiene Training

Ownership of the courses
The use of the courses and authorisation codes to access the courses in no way reflects any ownership on the part of the purchaser or member, members are not entitled to resell the courses or market them in any way, they are provided as part of the membership benefits and can only be used by the member or a person in the employ of the member.

Cheating
If you want to cheat and get someone else to do the course for you be warned, we have several ways of detecting cheating, every course is tracked and monitored and if we suspect anything we will not issue the certificate.

If you do cheat and still manage to get a certificate, what have you gained? If anything goes wrong and you are found liable for the loss or injury, who have you cheated? Neither this or any other certificate won't save you from a criminal negligence charge which carries penalty of up to £20,000 per offence and or up to six months imprisonment.
 
Payment
You can pay by credit/ debit card and start straightaway, the cost depends on the course you choose. If you want to pay by cheque then you may send a cheque to the NCASS office and we will reply either in writing, email or by phone with your authorisation code.

Age limit
There is no minimum or maximum age limit for the courses. However, you must be over 16 to work in a kitchen.

Pre-entry requirements
No prior qualification or previous catering experience is required for Level 1 & 2
Level 2 must be completed before Level 3
The courses consists of:

Level 1 4 modules 1.5 hrs
Level 2 Mobile 13 modules 4 hrs
Level 2 Static Site 11 modules 4.5 hrs
Level 3 27 modules 7 - 10 hrs
Health & safety In Catering 16 modules 10 hrs
First Aid 13 modules 3.5 hrs
HACCP 9 modules 2 - 3 hrs


Examinations / tests
The tests are there to prove satisfactory competence, they are also online.

Certification and Time Limitations
Once all modules have been completed, the certification fee paid and a photo uploaded (if applicable) a certificate will be issued. The course will remain on our system for a period of three(3) months and then deleted if the certificate fee and or the photo requirements have not been complied with.

General information
The Board of NCASS reserves the right to interpret these regulations.

Feedback/support to students
There will be no feed back to students, but email and telephone support (9am - 5pm) is provided to those having difficulty completing the course

Special needs students
Where a student has difficulties with reading, they are able to attempt the course with the active support of a NCASS member. It is necessary for the member to confirm that they will go through the complete programme with the student and where necessary enter the student's answers in to the exercises and questions.

Certification
Certificates are time limited to three years.

Names on certificates
Certificates will be printed with the first name and surname of the successful students.
No titles, i.e. Dr, Mr, Ms, Mrs, or Miss will be included on the certificate.
Certificates with names that are incorrectly printed must be returned to NCASS for a new certificate to be issued. If the correct information was supplied on the registration or validation form, this will be supplied free of charge. If the information was incorrect, then a written explanation must be provided to NCASS and a charge of £12.50 or £15.00 (as applicable) for an amended certificate will be made. The Board of NCASS reserves the right not to issue an amended certificate

Additional and replacement certificates
Due to the arrangements that many the industry operates under, the Board appreciates that in some instances there is a need for a student to be provided with more than one certificate e.g. works from two units.
Therefore copies of the original certificate can be ordered.
Where an order is made at the time of registration or validation there is a charge of £10 for each additional certificate.
Where the request for additional certificates is received after despatch of the original then the charge is £15 per certificate.
Where the original certificate is lost then a replacement certificate will be issued by NCASS on payment of £15

Ownership of the certificate
The certificate is the property of the person or the business that has paid for or provided the course.
The Board of NCASS reserves the right to recall any certificate issued by the Association.

Q What if, in the future, the student marries and changes their name?
A A new certificate will be issued by NCASS on proof of the name change and payment of the appropriate fee.

Q What if the student, in the future, divorces and changes their name?
A A new certificate will be issued by NCASS on proof of the name change and payment of the appropriate fee.

Q If a student loses or damages their certificate, can a replacement certificate be issued?
A A new certificate will be issued by NCASS on payment of the appropriate fee.

Additional certificates
A coding system identifies original, duplicate and replacement certificates.

Verification
NCASS randomly select trainees who have passed exams and verify their identity. This will be done by telephone and acceptance of this process is a condition of taking our exams. Trainees who do not co-operate with this process or whose identity cannot be confirmed will not be issued with certificates and will forfeit any fees already paid.
